Bishop Ruth visits school

Bishop Ruth Worsley, the Bishop of Taunton, visited Christ Church in Frome this week where she met children in all the classes - and answered questions on a range of subjects including how to be kind and how many pairs of shoes she owns!

She toured the school with Headteacher Nicki Smith, and was delighted to see children working on projects associated with the school's vision 'Let Your Light Shine'. This included making creative lanterns adorned by inspiring messages.

They were also joined by Revd Liz Dudley, Vicar of Christ Church, Frome.

In each class, Bishop Ruth answered questions which the children had been working on and covered topics including the Bible, ways of living our lives and also some personal questions.

Bishop Ruth revealed she probably had too many shoes, she enjoys reading - especially the Narnia books along with a good thriller - and that this weekend she will herself be ordaining one of her three sons as a Curate.

Bishop Ruth said: “It was an absolute delight to meet the children at Christ Church. Their joy and enthusiasm and sharing their work was fantastic to see and I especially enjoyed answering their questions which were both fun, challenging - and very insightful.

"The pupils were a credit to their wonderful teachers who provide such a caring and nurturing environment for them all.”

Nicki said: "It was a lovely afternoon showing Bishop Ruth our school and the children were so engaged with showing her their work and also asking thought-provoking questions. We also discussed how we can continue to work together as we continue our journey with our families in this wonderful community."
